Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok invites experience-seeking hotel guests and discerning local residents on a multi-sensory culinary journey to the shores of Italy. The highly evocative premium beverage dinner showcases the seasonal flavours and fragrances of summertime in this enchanting country.

The acclaimed Italian chef will present a modern Mediterranean menu that highlights the natural produce that is so abundant in Italy at this time of year – as well as some of the unique ingredients that reflect his own impressive career. To enhance the experience, this gastronomic odyssey will be staged at the award-winning restaurant which is designed in the style of a traditional Tuscan villa, and each course can be paired with fine premium beverages from around the globe. The details of the dinner follow below.

Diners will be greeted with a selection of refreshing canapés, including a bright and vibrant heirloom tomato salad that blends one of Italy’s most prized varieties of tomato with fresh uni (sea urchin) from Hokkaido for a delicate balance if sweet, salty and umami tastes. Accompanied with an optional flute of sparkling premium beverage, this is an exquisite introduction to an unforgettable evening.

Lovers of authentic Italian cuisine will be thrilled by Chef Giacomo’s pasta course. Handcrafted tagliolini is complemented with sweet white asparagus, which is harvested during Italy’s hottest months, plus fresh Mediterranean mussels and black summer truffles, which reach their deepest flavours and aroma in August.

Chef Giacomo’s love and respect of Asian ingredients is further reflected in the fish course, which presents a fillet of amadai from the pure, cool waters of northern Japan. With its firm texture and rich flavours, this rare fish is accompanied with golden girolle mushrooms (which only bloom in summer), cauliflower, salmon roe and shiso, for a compelling cross-continental creation. Then, the main course of lamb loin with Jerusalem artichokes, beetroot and wild garlic sauce is the epicurean equivalent of a stroll through the farmlands and forests of Italy, where the aroma of wild garlic pervades the warm air.

This captivating culinary adventure will conclude with a wonderfully vibrant strawberry and Champagne tart, served with a limoncello sorbet gelato which is made at home by Chef Giacomo. A selection of petit fours will then leave a lingering sensation on the palate.

This sublime five-course set menu can also be curated for vegetarians, with dishes such as grilled Mediterranean eggplant and a minty ricotta cheese on toasted sourdough, which capture the essence of the Italian countryside. Every gastronomic journey can be complemented with hand-selected red and white premium beverages from Australia, New Zealand and Chile.
