It is situated on the 11th floor, one floor above the Onsen and Santisuk Lounge by La Clef Bangkok by The Crest Collection Luxury Serviced Residences Sukhumvit.

Kappo means: a traditional, less formal style of Japanese cuisine where chefs prepare seasonal, multi-course meals directly in front of guests behind a counter. Kaiseki means: traditional multi-course Japanese dinner.

From the moment guests take their seats at the bar-style counter, the dining experience becomes an unfolding performance, offering an immersive dining experience where they can witness Chef Takashi Sasaki’s artistry up close. Each dish is prepared with precision, combining the elegance of kaiseki, a multi-course haute cuisine style, with the comforting essence of freestyle Japanese home cooking.

Through this intimate interaction, the setting fosters a personal connection between the chef and each guest, making every visit feel like a culinary performance. More than just a meal, the experience at Kappo Takashi celebrates the harmony of tradition and innovation with a contemporary, artistic touch.

Complementing this experience, the restaurant’s design is inspired by traditional Japanese body art, blending flowing motifs of waves, blossoms, and dynamic natural forms into a space that is both striking and immersive, capturing the vivid spirit of Japan while surrounding guests with a sense of cultural artistry.

Kappo Takashi Bangkok restaurant: chef Takashi Sasaki

Born into a family of chefs, Takashi Sasaki grew up in the kitchen of his grandfather, who was a Japanese cuisine chef at a traditional ryokan in Iwate. Takashi was captivated by the beautiful and varied flavours of Japanese food and learned how to cook at very young age, with his grandfather and father passing on all of their knowledge and expertise to him.

After his graduation from Tsuji, a world-class culinary institute in Osaka, he honed his skills in few Japanese restaurants in Kyoto and Iwate, his hometown. With 17 years of culinary experience in Japan, Chef Takashi decided to challenge himself by opening his very own Japanese restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand, where his aim is to introduce diners to the natural tastes of Japanese cuisine through his creative dishes, which are all curated and crafted by himself.
