Balcony Lounge Bangkok negroni news: Come September, the bartenders at the InterContinental Bangkok venue are weaving their mixology magic in a global tribute to the Negroni, one of the world’s most iconic cocktails.
The Negroni is traditionally a blend of gin, sweet vermouth and Campari, usually garnished with a slice of orange. There are a number of ‘origin myths’ about how the drink came to be invented but the most popular has it that the heady concoction was first mixed and poured in a Florentine café in 1919 at the request of an Italian nobleman and bon viveur called Count Camillo Negroni. In the century or so since, the beverage has seen many iterations – the Boulevardier, which substitutes whiskey in the place of gin, being a prime example.

This is why the mixologists at Balcony Lounge have really let their creative juices go for Negroni month and dreamed up a selection of five cocktails inspired by Count Camillo’s original drink. These twists are full of flavour and style. Highlights include the Sbagliato featuring Lillet rose, Aperol, Campari, Prosecco and Iron ball gin; the rich and creamy Kahlua Negroni with Lillet blanc, Kahlua, Campari, coffee infused Tanqueray gin; and the Bangkok Haze, a bold and aromatic mix of Lillet blanc, Campari, blue curacao, Kosapan rum and smoked cherry wood. These are complemented by the piquant Rose’ta, a combination of Lillet rose, Campari, tequila, Cinzano and tobasco, and the punch-packing Siam Boulevardier, which stars Mekhong whiskey, Cinzano, Campari with a splash of citrus.
