Blue HourOne-Ninety Bar promotion review: When Happy Hour Asia selects bars to cover and review, we like to find discoveries, hidden gems and want to test what seem to be attractive promotions. The draw for us and for the readership is usually a form of ‘happy hour’ in one way of the other – as point of departure. In addition, creativity and awarding guests something extra always goes down well when it comes to picking places where to have some nice wine or creative and well-balanced cocktail concoctions.

The ‘Blue Hour’ (which lasts for two hours, 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, daily on weekdays) is such a draw in the exhaustive dining and drinking city of Singapore, on offer at One-Ninety Bar, within Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.

Merely 150 metres from the western beginning of Orchard Road, this just refurbished and somewhat understated luxury hotel rests along Orchard Boulevard and among tall, tropical trees.

And, as is the case at many Four Seasons hotels and resorts, also in Singapore the hotel bar that the brand invests highly in when it comes to design, mixologist skills, discerning drinks menu and overall experience. One-Ninety Bar is not exactly just any hotel bar, but a destination in its own right, and where guests can enjoy top service, food and drinks on the highest level, and in luxurious surrounds.

It still very much has the character of a bar with indoor and outdoor seating. A black marble bar counter with small classic yellow table lamps also offer seating, in the form of orange-brow bar chairs. The spirits are displayed on shelves along the wall behind bar.

And, in addition to One-Ninety Bar being destination you have to go to, rather than stumbling across along any of the boulevards, it also has a “secret garden” – a breezy outdoor terraza for balmy, al fresco imbibing. This garden bar extension (inspired by the nearby Singapore Botanic Gardens) comes with orchid flowers and colonial style metal armchairs with green-grey-white striped cushions.

As for the promotion, the Blue Hour consists in complimentary appetisers with every alcoholic beverage/mocktail to indulge in. It is an impressive free flow buffet spread with Mediterranean delicacies and tapas that go particularly well with a glass of wine.

Pickled mayonnaise, Duck rillette pâté, Mediterranean anchovies, Olive tapenade (made with olives and capers, then flavoured with other herbs and spices), Smoked almonds, Marinated eggplant, Assorted cheese with Italian crackers, Pickles mushrooms, Chili garlic shrimp, and various dips. I refill plate after plate while savouring Singapore’s preserved nature in certain areas like this one, from the alfresco space. There are even desserts to pair with perhaps a sweet wine or cocktail.

With these Blue Hours an even can easily ten to be extended sojourn, in particular if one also happens to be staying in the hotel.

Regardless, One-Ninety Bar is certainly a bar to watch and keep an eye on going forward for coming dining and drinking offers! Happy Hour Asia will do so.
