Hyatt Hotels has announced the official opening of Park Hyatt Siem Reap, the fourteenth Hyatt property in the Southeast Asia region and the first Hyatt hotel in Cambodia. Formerly known as Hotel De La Paix, one of Cambodia’s top-rated hotels, the property is reopening under the Park Hyatt brand following a 14-month top-to-bottom renovation by award-winning interior designer Bill Bensley.
Home to the renowned 12th century ruins of Angkor Wat, Siem Reap has quickly emerged as one of Asia’s top new destinations for culture and leisure. With its close proximity to the UNESCO world heritage site and the destination’s recent growth, Park Hyatt Siem Reap creates a new standard for luxury hotels, offering an enriching, sophisticated and authentic style of service for a growing number of international visitors to the area.
Located in the heart of downtown Siem Reap, guests will find easy access to the town’s largest old market, several night markets, and the bustling and eclectic restaurant and shopping district.
Park Hyatt Siem Reap design and guestrooms
The hotel stands alone in its award-winning architecture, renovated and redesigned by world-renowned Bangkok-based interior designer Bill Bensley. It features 108 contemporary guestrooms, including 13 suites, four of which showcase private plunge pools. The dramatic white façade and spacious dome-shaped ceiling have been designed to replicate the interior towers of Angkor Wat. Inspired by these ancient Angkorian ruins and Cambodia’s vibrant culture, Bill Bensley designed the one-of-a-kind hotel with attention to detail and passion for color and texture that reflects the dual nature of the exotic environment. Khmer-inspired contemporary art, wood floors and Italian marble are used for the interiors to offer a sophisticated, residential feel, a signature concept for the Park Hyatt aesthetic.
Dining at Park Hyatt Siem Reap
With the Park Hyatt brand known worldwide for its innovative dining concepts and exquisite cuisine, this hotel delivers memorable dining experiences with its restaurant, lounge and patisserie.
Opening out toward the banyan tree just along the courtyard, The Dining Room features a fresh mix of traditional Khmer and French provincial cuisine, including traditional Cambodian dishes utilizing fresh product from the local market. Warm tones and Italian marble create an elegant dining experience for all guests to enjoy.
The retro-chic and decadent Living Room lounge, located on the ground floor opposite the lobby, is the ideal place to enjoy high tea in the afternoon or a sunset cocktail in the evening. Wine and other beverages are served throughout the day. In addition to the signature restaurant and lounge, the hotel offers delicious pizzas, freshly baked pastries, homemade ice cream and other comfort foods at the famous Glasshouse Deli Patisserie. The vibrant retail-bakery is perfect for a quick on-the-go snack or guests may stay and enjoy one of the many flavorful coffees offered at the deli.
Spa and Fitness
The Spa covers 242 square-meters (2,615 square feet) and features a 24-hour fitness center, two swimming pools, and a multi-level treatment facility. The lap pool can be found on the ground floor surrounded by lush gardens, and directly above on the first floor is the free-form swimming pool with an infinity edge, giant trees and green tiles, which mimic a Southeast Asian lagoon. The spa has six treatment rooms, a steam room and a rooftop relaxation space for yoga or foot massages. The Spa is a zen-inspired retreat with the highest-quality service and holistic spa treatments using exclusive aromatherapy products. The hotel’s “smart” fitness center is outfitted with the latest Technogym cardiovascular and strength machines, which connect to the Internet (for listening to music, watching TV or following online exercise routines) and scientifically and biomechanically correct posture and alignment.
Event Facilities
With its central location, the hotel provides a convenient and spacious gallery for various events, such as corporate meetings, conferences and seminars, as well as weddings and social events. The gallery, with access to a full open kitchen and separate boardroom, are both equipped with state-of-the-art systems and technology, as well as a professional team of experts on hand to provide a tailored service for each event, from the planning stage through to its completion.
The gallery and boardroom are multi-event facilities in a residential style, and both are well designed and cozy.
Hyatt Asia Pacific believes that this hotel will pave the way for a new standard of luxury and brand loyalty in Southeast Asia, and are excited to offer both leisure and business travelers rare and unique experiences.
“We have been eagerly anticipating the opening of this stunning new property and we are excited to welcome both local and international guests to experience authentic Cambodian hospitality and culture,” said Sholto Smith, general manager, Park Hyatt Siem Reap. “We also hope to play a central role in the growth and economic development of this fantastic destination, especially through our recent collaboration with Life & Hope Association (LHA) where we will help provide sewing skills training to women and encourage them to start their own businesses.
