Opening in November 2024, The StandardX continues its expansion with the debut of The StandardX Bangkok Phra Arthit. Following the inaugural launch in Melbourne in late summer 2024, this second outpost embraces Bangkok’s vibrant art scene to feature 62 guestrooms, a rotating art gallery, and two distinctive culinary concepts.

At its core, The StandardX brand embodies adventure, style, and defying convention. As the rebellious younger sibling of The Standard, The StandardX offers minimalist rooms, paired with enticing cultural programming and unpretentious, intuitive hospitality. Here, guests are not distanced from the environment; instead, they are given the keys to unearth its hidden gems. The brand deliberately chooses culturally rich locations within major global cities to immerse guests into the worlds of art, fashion, and music.

Nestled in Bangkok’s old town near the riverside and Silapakorn University, the city’s most prominent institution for the arts. The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit is surrounded by a creative enclave brimming with cafés, bars, restaurants, and a lively music scene. Steps away from the green park with Phra Sumen Fort, the hotel dives into the very spirit of this artistic energy by housing 10 10 Art Gallery that showcases both temporary and permanent exhibitions by local artists with international recognition, launching with Gongkan and MRKREME. Both artists decorated the hotel’s streetside and riverfront façades with their signature style and eye-catching hues. The property will introduce an artist-in-residence program, serving as an incubator for emerging talent in tandem with workshops, events, and panels to create an accessible environment for creative exchange.

Design stands as a collaboration between Standard International’s in-house team and Studio Freehand with Porntip “Mook” Attakanwong of ATT19. The StandardX, Bangkok’s 62 contemporary rooms range from 30 to 46 square meters across four categories, from the intimate Cozy King, Cozy Twin, King on the River and spacious King of Kings. Each room blends the raw, gritty spirit of Bangkok with the modern comforts and culture that define The StandardX experience.

Similar to its Melbourne counterpart, the Bangkok-based sibling will continue to offer standout dining concepts: BANG is an all-day Thai restaurant located on the ground floor, where local ingredients bring a bold perspective to beloved traditional Thai dishes. Standouts include Grilled Chicken (Gor Lae) with Roti, Pong-Neng Fried Mussels and Som Tum Chao Phraya.

Near BANG is The Box, a sleek retail concept that highlights craftsmanship for everyday essentials, snacks, beverages, and local goods. The coffee is a standout feature, as The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit has partnered with growers in Pua District, Nan Province to cultivate exceptional, sustainable varieties. This collaboration also creates job opportunities and provides stable income for the younger generation.
