Rising an impressive 31 places from No. 48 in 2025 to No. 17 in 2026, the achievement marks Bar Sathorn’s highest-ever placement and reinforces its position as one of Asia’s leading cocktail destinations, celebrated for its distinctive approach to storytelling through drinks.
Occupying The House on Sathorn, Bar Sathorn offers a cocktail experience unlike any other in Bangkok. Over the past century, the landmark has served as a private residence, a luxury hotel and the Soviet embassy before becoming part of W Bangkok. Today, its grand Corinthian columns, elegant interiors and rich history provide the backdrop for a contemporary cocktail programme where every drink is inspired by the stories, people and flavours that have shaped both the mansion and the city.

Marco Dongi, who as Bar Manager built the programme that earned Bar Sathorn its recognition, has been promoted to Beverage and Bars Manager. Milan-born, with a career spanning eight countries and four continents, he continues to lead Bar Sathorn while overseeing the drinks programme and bar operations across all of W Bangkok’s venues.
“I’m incredibly happy and grateful. This recognition reflects years of hard work, dedication, and commitment. I truly believe sincere hospitality always wins, when you stay humble, authentic, and genuinely care about what you do.” says Marco Dongi.

Alexander Kellermann, GM, W Bangkok added “We are proud to see Bar Sathorn continue to grow, and we remain committed to delivering experiences that blend W Hotels’ modern flair with the rich heritage of Sathorn.”
Bar Sathorn’s signature menu is divided into four chapters, each taking guests on a multi-sensory journey through a different historical era of The House on Sathorn. The ‘History of Sathorn‘ (1888–1926) celebrates the origins of the cocktail scene with timeless drinks, while ‘Hotel Royal‘ (1926–1948) captures the glamorous era of Madame Staro with Italian-inspired creations. The ‘Embassy Row‘ (1948–1999) honors Sathorn Road’s diplomatic past with global cocktails elevated by bold Thai spices. Finally, ‘The Present‘ (1999–today) reflects how Bar Sathorn blends historical charm with modernity through inventive drinks.

Cocktail by Bar Sathorn
Signature creations are led by the Bangkok Brunch, a cocktail that reimagines familiar brunch flavours through a distinctly Thai lens. Creyente mezcal and 1800 Blanco tequila are layered with salted tomato water, rice vinegar and vanilla before being lifted by the aromatics of Thai basil and chilli inspired by pad kaprao. A whole frozen tomato sits at the heart of the serve, acting as the ice while reinforcing the cocktail’s savoury tomato profile. The result is a bold, savoury serve that reflects Bar Sathorn’s philosophy of transforming local references into contemporary cocktail experiences.
Beyond its signature menu, Bar Sathorn continues to embrace its adopted home through a rotating monthly specials programme celebrating Thailand’s rich agricultural landscape and artisanal producers. Previous editions have highlighted Thai cacao, wild honey, pomelo and hilltribe coffee, while many of the herbs, edible flowers and seasonal greens featured throughout the menu are harvested from W Bangkok’s rooftop garden. Nourished by compost created from the hotel’s food waste, the garden reflects the team’s thoughtful approach to ingredient sourcing and sustainability.
The recognition comes at a time when Bangkok continues to strengthen its position as one of Asia’s most dynamic cocktail capitals. As the recipient of the Nikka Highest Climber Award, Bar Sathorn joins an esteemed group of bars recognised not only for excellence, but for their exceptional momentum, creativity and contribution to the region’s evolving bar culture.
