With elegant restaurants, bars and lounges designed to encourage relaxed socialising, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas has curated an exciting programme of rotating culinary events that offers new gastronomic delights every day of the week.

On Saturdays, resort guests can while away the golden hours of sunshine with a frozen cocktail on the beach while enjoying delicious grill-focused menu at the ‘Saturday Seaside Escape’. In addition to surf-and-turf dishes and seafood fresh off the grill, the menu features oysters on ice, soft-shell crab sliders, foie gras appetisers and other premium savoury and sweet offerings. A DJ will be spinning the latest chill beats to you entertained from 1130am to 4pm. Prices start from RM248+ per person and RM398+ with alcohol.

Epic Thai-Laysia Nights’, taking place at Turmeric every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30pm to 10.00pm are a boisterous celebration of regional flavours centred on Malaysian ‘Bakar-Bakar’ barbecue – a not-to-be-missed grill experience with chefs turning out tasty treats for the entire family. Also on the menu are fresh Thai and Malaysian salads, traditional appetisers and hot dishes from live cooking stations. Prices start from RM148+ per person.

At the chic and breezy Observatory Bar, guests can experience Malaysia’s traditional mid-day nibbles and afternoon refreshments with the new ‘Minum Petang’ Tiffin Set promotion. On the savoury side are crisp donuts with sambal and cucumber; prawn fritters with spicy peanut sauce; lempeng lembut crepes with sardine sambal; and flaky beef Rendang pie. For dessert, guests can sample assorted malay kueh, steamed glutinous rice cakes flavoured with coconut milk and pandan; cendol panna cotta with green rice flour jelly; Portuguese egg tarts; and pandan scones with kaya jam and clotted cream. Minum Petang is priced at RM280+ for two people including tea or coffee.

For a classic European afternoon tea service, guests can try the ‘English Afternoon Tea Set’ also offered at the Observatory for RM280+ for two people. Served with premium Dilmah tea or coffee, the elevated experience features mini bagels with smoked salmon and a selection of fine finger sandwiches, including truffle egg and salmon; cucumber, cream cheese and dill; and tuna on wholemeal bread. There are cakes aplenty too, with such delightful creations as Opera torte, spiced fruit cake, one-bite fruit tartlets, Victoria sponge cake, raspberry and pistachio trifle, and classic scones served with lashings of strawberry jam and clotted cream.

Wednesday evenings are reserved for seafood indulgences, with guests gathering on the beach for the ’Shell Out’ promotion where Anantara chefs make a veritable feast from whatever bounty was hauled in by the local fishermen that day, including lobsters, crabs, crayfish, mussels and calamari, all served with dips, sides, desserts and drinks. Running from 6.00pm to 10.30pm every Wednesday, Shell Out is priced at RM320+ per couple for food only or RM440+ with a bottle of house wine or a bucket of beer.
