Mondrian Hong Kong hotel launched on 18 December, 2023, aiming to fulfil its promise of pushing boundaries, with oversized imagination. It also intends to instil the city with a refreshed take on luxury lifestyle and hospitality.
The new Mondrian property offers 324 guest rooms including 12 two-bay suites in the beating heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong’s most vibrant neighbourhood, with elements inspired by Hong Kong’s rich history, design flourishes like a floating mini-bar and sweeping Victoria Harbour and island skyline vistas, plus curated works and performances by local artists.
More reasons to get excited? Expressive architecture in a future landmark featuring design from the wild imagination of Karin Krautgartner and cutting-edge art and installations from inspired local and international artists; Carna, a sophisticated nose-to-tail Italian steakhouse by culinary philosopher and legendary butcher Dario Cecchini, designed by award-winning local hero Joyce Wang.
“Mondrian is a brand that takes its inspiration from people, and their stories. It is through collaboration with local and international artists, designers, and chefs that we create experiences for global travellers that are rich in culture and surprises,” said Gaurav Bhushan, Co-CEO, Ennismore. “Yet the brilliance of the brand is in its allure as a destination for locals as well as travellers. This is where the power of lifestyle hospitality lies – the ability to invite an energizing mix of the community and world beyond – celebrating the local roots of the destination while allowing an infusion of global ideas to inform further and enrich the hotel experience.”
Tony Yeung, CEO of owning company Peterson Group said “I am very proud that after 2 years of extensive transformation in partnership with Mondrian, we can now reveal and launch Mondrian Hong Kong, a captivating luxury lifestyle brand that seamlessly combines the next generation of hospitality with an unwavering dedication to social responsibility. Against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour, Mondrian aims to redefine the vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong by curating an unparalleled dining and bar experience, infusing the local scene with a vibrant energy that will imprint a lasting memory for our guests.”
Discover Avoca, an innovative cocktail bar that makes a great addition to Kowloon’s evolving bar scene with DJs, sounds, creative comfort food and vibrant energy; and a 40th floor rooftop space given over to cultural happenings, community gatherings and unexpected performances. Not to mention immediate MTR access and proximity to all the action and inspirations of the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Mondrian Hong Kong hotel: deep regard for neighbourhood
Mondrian Hong Kong is inspired. By people. As part of Mondrian’s deep regard for its neighbourhood and community, its team is committed to giving back and rather than the traditional welcome of VIP’s and celebrities as the first guests, Mondrian marks its launch and arrival in the city with inviting Single Parent Families to a much deserved Staycation. As a first initiative and sign of a true commitment to becoming an integral part of the community, the hotel will make space for those who need a small getaway the most and provide a meaningful way to introduce the brand.
Mondrian is partnering with SoCO and the Hong Kong Single Parents Association, both prominent NGOs, to invite single parent families to take a break from their daily routine, enjoying complimentary one-night accommodation including breakfast and dinner at the restaurants, along with a gift bag offered by the Owning Company Peterson Group. Mondrian also includes M+ museum tickets to the families, adding a lifestyle experience that aligns with its cultural mission of pushing boundaries through creative exploration. Committed to community, the tickets offer an opportunity for inspiration and new perspectives through thought-provoking art.
The Opening initiative marks the beginning of Mondrian’s community involvement, its mission to be an integral part of the city and use business with a social and cultural purpose.
GM Dirk Dalichau says he was inspired to use a more unconventional approach to launch the hotel and amongst the glitz and glamour, extend a deeper ethos of community uplift from the very beginning; an event with a social conscience that could make a small but real difference.
“Our vision is the hotel as a progressive and imaginative community, a place to connect, have fun, be challenged, experiment, and come away inspired ,” says Dalichau.
“In eager anticipation to welcome our first guests, we wanted to throw our doors open to some of Hong Kong’s most deserving families, by simply giving them a small break away from the daily pressures. This commitment will be taken further, by offering single parents job sharing possibilities that provide some extra flexibility to meet their unique needs.
“It’s a chance to make a positive impact, position Mondrian as a brand that takes its responsibilities to the community seriously, help those who need it most, support local talents, and inspire future collaborations that can have a lasting impact.”
